Sailed at national level in Junior racing (won Bemis district Champs) and was

out in NE Portland. I am interested in taking some lessons in sailing. I have
recently decided to take on the endeavor of crossing the Pacific this next
summer, during what I understand to be low storm season. The catch with all this
is that I do not own a boat and being that I am a full time student finishing my
undergrad I am working with a limited budget. What I am interested in in purely
practical knowledge, this being said I do not desire any certification or
qualifications that are unneeded. A little about me, I am 25 have done a good
bit of travels here and abroad and have sailed some but not piloted by myself. I
plan to sail from Oregon to California and then west from San Fransisco to
Hawaii. From there around then back across and up to Seattle to live on the boat
while I finish my undergrad in Herbal Sciences. What I am looking from from you
in advise on the best way to accomplish this, or the reality of this being a
feasible go!

close to 10,000 and am willing to by in on a vessel with friends/ significant
other but budgeting is the key. I was wondering if there was anyway that we
could do work trade for lessons (sanding, sealing, dock work, anything I have a
large background in construction and woodworking) or supplement with beer (i
have been brewing for the last 3 years), or organic vegetables/eggs (I do a good
bit of organic gardening). The reality is that while I have an excess of time I

My main reason for wanting to do this is that I am
interested in buying a 40 or 50 foot sailboat and sailing ... pretty much all
over the world ...someday. Which is why I want to help crew a boat -
not only to learn the different parts of a sailboat, but also to see how well

Comments: I recently moved to PDX from Cleveland, Ohio where I have
been a competitive racer for 9 years. (Member of NCWSA and CSA) I am most
comfortable as a down wind sail trimmer (kickname fly girl...) and pit, but
having owned a Tartan 27, I am used to helming, trimming, foredeck, etc.

Hi, I am new to the sailing scene up here. I have racing experience in
both San Fransisco and San Diego for a total of about 5 years while I was in
school in California. I have worked just about every position, and have
raced on boats from 25 to 60 feet... But I have logged most of my races on
a Catalina 30 and an Erickson 38.
I'm looking for a boat that is somewhat
competitive, but also has a good atmosphere. At the moment I would be

Comments: Greetings all! My name is Nir, I am a 38 old
Israeli and I recently came to live in Bend with my wife. For the last ten years
I have been working as a boat captain and instructor. I have more than 10 years
of experience and opportunity as being a captain/skipper of sail and motor
yachts through the Mediterranean with a strong concentration around the Turkish
coast. I have instructed a variety of nautical education including:
coastal and instrument navigation, seamanship, boat systems, and practical
knowledge of yachting. I spent 5 years in the Israeli Navy which includes me as
a graduate of the Naval Academy, the Deputy Engineer of a naval ship, a
commander of a patrol vessel, and the Seamanship officer of an Israeli mother
ship. After the required Israeli naval days, I moved my interests to sailboats
and was a head sailboat instructor at a local school in Israel. Through the
years, I completed dozens of charters and deliveries of sail and motor vessels.

wife have worked on a various amount of boat projects including a haul out and
anti fouling on a boat. I am diver as well and used this knowledge and skill to

Great Lake tours into Canada via Lake Huron, some river navigation and my last
small catamaran trip was 13 years ago. My longest trip was 3-weeks with good
Canadian beer.
I'm 46, retired Air Force with a background in Survival
& Rescue Operations. Currently, I manage my own real estate
investments from home and raise a toddler while my wife pursues here
career. She has a sailing background as well and we are currently looking
for a sailboat between 35'-40' and hope to partner with another family with a

Comments: I have a big dream... I want to crew
on an atlantic crossing in the next couple of years. The only problem is,
I don't have much experience with boats. I did live/work aboard a cruising
sailboat for awhile, but I was pretty much a galley slave and we didn't do much
sailing- my employers were motoring down the Intracoastal en route to the
Bahamas, and I jumped ship in Florida.
Also, my family had a 25-foot
American when I was a kid, and I did some sailing in Lake Washington and Puget
Sound.
So, I'm not completely clueless, but I have a lot to learn. At least I
know I don't get seasick!
My intent in posting this is just to put my feelers
out and see if anyone in the area is willing to let me tag along on their

coast headed west. i need to be in Saipan in early november. any destination

sailed for three years and have sailed in blue water along the WA coast, I
suffer from arthritis and don't have the strength I used to. ISO captain with
